Description: Hostile conditions did not prevent the Covenant from seeking salvage on this buried Forerunner construct. Snowy wastes are a dangerous place to be caught in the open, but the chilly underground vaults, grafted to a buried Forerunner structure, are no safer.
Layout
Several rock outcroppings are placed around half of the perimeter of the map, some weapons are strategically placed within the cover that the rocks offer. There are also bunkers protected by energy shields, which stop all weapons, but let players pass through, although Spike Grenades can stick to the shield itself. There are also Automatic Turrets, which shoot players venturing outside the maps boundaries.
Below the bases are the spawns for the Spiker and the Plasma Pistol, as well as several grenades. On top of the bases are the Needler and Carbine spawn points. Inside the low base, there is a Spartan Laser and a Power Drainer. Inside the high base, there is a Beam Rifle and a Bubble Shield
Beneath the bases are tunnels that lead to a central room, and onwards to the second base. In this room is the Shotgun spawn, surrounded by fusion cores. Besides going to the bases, there are two ways out of this room: one that leads to the Ghost spawn, and another that leads to a narrow trench linking the two bases on the surface. Near each of the bases is a small cave where the Sniper Rifle spawns, also surrounded by fusion cores.
The Active Camo spawns in one of the caves facing the sun, know as the "Ice Tunnel".
Snowbound, as revealed in a Bungie Weekly Update, will feature gravity manipulation as a customizable feature. It is unknown at this time whether other maps will share this feature, although likely. Players may leave footprints in the snow (which could be tracked) for a few seconds before fading away.

FFA Strategies
• The Ghost can be a very useful tool in a open level like Snowbound since everyone has to be outside at one point or another. However with the openness of the level it is fairly easy to be targeted with the Spartan Laser or Sniper Rifle so constantly moving is advantageous to this vehicle.
• Since only people and not vehicles can be taken passed the shield doors it is a good idea to carry a ranged weapon for outside of the base to take out people at a distance and fight people on ghosts and a short range weapon for inside the tunnels and inside the shield door areas.
• Exploit the shield doors by jumping through them while firing on enemies that are outside, and then retreat into the shield doors when they try to retaliate. If they come inside crouch down and jump out and melee them as soon as they come through the shield this can be very effective at lowering the enemies shields and making for a quick firefight.
• The shotgun is in the main room of the underground cave near the back shield door. Grab it and the spike grenades, which are very close by. Wait on one side of the shield doors and when an opponent walks through blast them with the shotgun. Shield doors force players to fight in a confined space, and a shotgun is devastating at close range. If they try and draw you outside of the shield door but still stay close enough slip outside the door for a instant and throw a spike grenade at them.
• To get further outside of the map than allowable due to the Stationary AI turrets you can use a bubble shield to defend yourself from the turrets, allowing you to get much further out of the map than usually possible. This can be advantageous especially when a enemy is tricked into trying to follow you. Although you may not get the kill since the AI turret is killing them it can be a good way to get someone off your back if they are coming at you with superior firepower.
• Although standing on top of the bases can provide a good vantage point for looking out over the map it can put you in a precariously exposed position. The best time to go up there is when your packing heavy firepower.
• When using the sniper rifle, try to stay in the backdrops of the level. Go to the edges where the automatic turrets are or stay on top of the bases. These provide the best vantage points to give a large field of view.
• Duel wielded Brute Spiker's can be very effective weapons in the confines of the tunnels which riddle the map. Hiding behind corners and popping out of shield doors and then peppering a enemy with the spiker's shrapnel bullets can be a quick way to end a fight.
• Unlike other maps, due to the snow, fragmentation grenades to not bounce and will explode where they fall which can provide a large tactical advantage against enemies on ghosts.
• Combining the Particle Beam and the Bubble Shield and using the top of the base containing these items will work, just snipe all you can, watching for BR fire, and when you start getting hit, or right from the start, deploy the Bubble Shield and occasionally pop out to take shots, retreating below if needed. - Sick Pimpin
• The spartan laser works best behind the shield doors. charge it up then pass through a door to safely eliminate opponents and have a fall-back if you miss. - Sick Pimpin
Team Strategies
• Divide and conquer is a very useful strategy due to all the shield doors. If a team is hiding in either of the bases and needs to be flushed out dividing the team into equal parts and attacking from every entrance can be a overwhelming force that decimates the enemy. This is one tactic that should only be employed at the beginning or middle of the game when position is more important that number of kills due to the high loses involved in this frontal assault style tactic.

• The team that controls the ghosts will take have a commanding lead and will likely force the enemy to fight in the tunnels and in the bases where they are protected from the ghosts by the shield door. In this instance short range weapons can be utilized in the close quarters of the tunnels to rack up kills on the surround enemy.
• In a CTF game, since there are shield doors located at the back of the bases of both teams to steal the flag a teammate can draw the fire of the enemy by popping in and out of the shield and throwing grenades. Then from behind (actually the front entrance) another teammate can swoop in and steal the flag before the enemy even realizes what happened. The backbone of this plan is based on the fact that the teammate behind the shield door is equip with a short range weapon such as the shotgun to fend off any enemies that try to go through the shield door. If this happens the other teammate on the other side is given the opportunity to steal the flag. Or if the enemy attacks the person trying to sneak into the front the other teammate can back them up from behind and could actually take out all the defenders. This strategy is useful if both parties of the plan stay live because is one falls the plan falls apart and the other will be the target of the enemies full firepower.
