Description: Freezing winds scour blasted terrain, and ancient battle scars are a grim reminder that this is a precious prize.
Layout
Avalanche is the spiritual successor of Sidewinder and sports the same giant U shape that categorized Sidewinder. Avalanche consists of 2 bases both at the end of each side of the U that consist of two stories. Each base has a left and right entrance on the bottom floor that leads down a small hallway and into the main base room with the ramps leading up to the second floor and teleporters leading to the mid-map bases where the rocket launcher is located. The second floor of the starting bases holds the object flag and ball spawn and has a opening that leads back out into the open. At the every end of the top hallway is a mancannon that will shoot you a considerable distance out onto the map.
Along the outside wall of the map their are large mancannon's located in increments up against the walls. These will help you get around the map on foot and can take you back into the action fast if necessary. Also there is a mancannon outside of the starter bases that shoots you up to the base. The middle area is categorized by sparse cover a a generally flat area. This can make it very treacherous for walking around. The few objects offer for cover are trees here and there as well as the rocky outcroppings that located by the bases and up against the walls of the middle. Both mid-map bases contain the same weapons but have very different layouts. The Covenant side mid-base is more open and has a few rocks for cover while the human base has a large 2 sided ramp up to its mid-base and is on a large raised plateau which makes it difficult for land vehicles to get up to. In the center area connecting the two bases is a large cavernous area with mancannons and a variety of weapons but almost no cover for anyone on foot.
